Previously, I have written about all of the great Business Partner programs we have planned for Lotusphere 2011, designed to help you gain serious insight into the marketplace for the coming year. However, Lotusphere also has a lighter side, and it's about time we paid that side of the conference some attention! With just about a month left to go before the conference, here's five things that IBM business partners can do to explore the lighter side of Lotusphere 2011:
1. Cast Your Vote in the Lotusphere 2011 Guess Who? Contest
This promotion, sponsored by LotusUserGroup.org and SGA Business Systems/RainbowSync (and unaffiliated with IBM), asks you to guess who will be the guest speaker for the 2011 Opening General Session. Submit a correct guess, and you could win a $100 American Express gift card. Good news for those of you that guess incorrectly as well: one runner up, drawn from all of the other entries, will also receive a $50 American Express gift card.
2. Prep Your Five Minute Audition for Lotusphere Idol
IBM's Ed Brill is hard at work selecting contestants for this year's Lotusphere Idol, where 4-5 conference goers audition before a panel of respected Lotusphere speakers for the chance at a full speaking slot on Thursday, February 3rd. Contact email@example.com to enter; along with Paul Mooney & Gab Davis, he'll help you write the abstract for your presentation and even prep you for the event (don't worry; the prep won't involve singing). According to his blog, previous participants "have gone on to speak at subsequent Lotuspheres and other Lotus-focused conferences", so this is one you won't want to miss.
As proponents of social business, we've come up with a lot of great ways to socialize with each other before, during and after Lotusphere. Register at the official Lotupshere social media aggregator to get all your conference updates in real-time, and to share your own updates with the community. In addition, tweeters who are speaking at or attending the conference can register at Lanyrd.com to promote their sessions and connect with other attendees. Through these channels, you can get a real sense of the power of the Lotus social community.
4. Check Out the Very Unofficial Andy's Guide to Lotusphere
Blogger and Lotusphere attendee Andy Donaldson has provided a very thorough and humorous guide of what to do (and not to do) at Lotusphere. Great for any attendees who haven't been there before, but also worth a read for those that have.
5. Relive the Action from Last Year with the Lotus Knows. Remix.
With over 58,000 views on YouTube, there's a good chance you've seen this one before. However, it's kind of awful and wonderful all at once, so definitely worth another look to help you get you pumped up for Lotusphere 2011. This might just be what would happen if Lotusphere & a rave had a baby.
This brings me to one final point: if you haven't registered for Lotusphere yet, what are you waiting for??? Register now by clicking here.
Also, If' you've got more lighthearted content that will help IBM partners get pumped for Lotusphere 2011, feel free to share it here!
