Had a great week at the SHARE Conference in Orlando. SHARE is all about mainframe hardware and software. We had a number of excellent Tivoli z/OS sessions. There were 4 NetView sessions: An introductory session on Monday by Larry Green on the new NetView V6.1. Couple of technical sessions and Thursday had a session with Dale Carter from Bank of America and Tom Howe from NetView Development on BofA usage of the new Canzlog capability in V6.1. Very well attended session for early Thursday morning. A number of attendees thought Canzlog would change how they dealt with their current logs going forward. It is a very well received new function in NetView V6.1. Tivoli presented on Monday at a full house Lunch and Learn on Problem Determination and Analysis. There was also an excellent session by Flora Tremantaon on the updated Tivoli Workload Scheduler 8.6 release that just came out. Focused on Workload Automation and Batch Modernization.
The SHARE Technical Exchange was open Monday and Tuesday nights and during Lunch on Wednesday. Tivoli was well represented with 6 peds of the 15 in the IBM area. There was also a working zEnterprise that a number of peds were directly connected to. The NetView, Application Management, Storage and Security peds were very busy the whole time. Lots of great conversations with many customers about the value of Tivoli software. SHARE is a great place to find out what is new for z/OS hardware and software. SHARE attendees understand the continuing importance and value of mainframe environments. The next SHARE is in Atlanta in March.
