Our speaker blog series for IBM Connect is in full swing. With this entry, we would like to introduce another first time speaker for IBM Connect.
Alan Marshall currently is a Software Accelerated Value Leader and resides in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States. He will be celebrating his 13th anniversary with IBM® in January 2013. All 13 of those years have been working in IBM® Software Services for Collaboration. His first 6 years were spent in Lab Services as an I/T Specialist where he worked and led project teams involving basically every piece of the Collaboration Solutions software portfolio. During his last two years with Lab Services, he worked almost exclusively on IBM® WebSphere® Portal and IBM® Lotus® Domino® /IBM® Sametime® integration projects. He led many of the efforts that make the process easier today in working with support, development and other Lab Services team members. He is an experienced speaker having participated in IBM Software Accelerated Value Seminars and IBM® Exceptional Web Experience conference. In his years as an Accelerated Value Leader, he has always worked on strategic or large dedicated customers supporting the entire Collaborations Solutions portfolio. Alan attributes his success to building customer relationships and becoming a part of the extended customer team he has built with executives. After IBM Connect, Alan will transition to his new role as an ICS Sales Client Technical Professional focusing on IBM SmartCloud. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and children, and spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, or playing golf. You can connect with him on Twitter at @alanrmarshall75.

Policies can often be a mystery to many experts and administrators. For those that are looking to implement new policies or expand upon their current knowledge, they should attend this session. We will unlock certain mysteries of policies by showing real world learning experiences from various engagements. We will also explain how the various policies we have implemented in the past have solved business needs. As with any policy implementation we have learned various troubleshooting techniques that will make administrators more efficient should problems arise. We also explain how DCC can impact settings you have made...some expected and some you may not expect unless you have seen it in action before. We will also show how we used two new features and combined them into one solution for a customer.
