George Ahn got the Smarter Physical Infrastructure stream at Pulse 2012 off to a great start. The crowd was as energized about the topic as the presenters.
Highlights from the presentations included:
- David Kontra from GE, gave an overview of the GE portfolio......wow! They have a $2B real estate spend annually, with 4500 sites worldwide. He discussed the role of Integrated Workplace Management Systems for their asset and facilities management processes. What a powerful TRIRIGA success story.
- Ken Bodine from Michelin started his presentation with a video highlighting the world's best selling tire brand. Michelin sells 176M tires annually, with 70 facilities in 18 countries. All different types of tires for planes, automobiles, cycles, racing, you name it. 1 out of every 5 vehicles has Michelin tires. And Maximo Asset Management helps them to be successful.
- Rick Nicholson from IDC Energy Insights discussed Smarter Physical Infrastructure megatrends. He started by defining "smart", followed by discussing what makes a "smarter city' and concluded with the role of asset and facilities management he is seeing in his industry consulting activities.
- Jamie Thomas, VP of Tivoli Development. closed the session with an overview of the importance that Maximo Asset Management, TRIRIGA and Smarter Cities solutions from IBM play in delivering a Smarter Physical Infrastructure.
