The largest track at Pulse is Enterprise Asset Management, so I'm very excited to have been a participant at this. Over 200 clients applied to be speakers for our track, with over 130 are on the agenda. More Maximo content in this year's conference than in the days of MRO World.
The agenda included:
The key is that Maximo is at the center of IBM's Smarter Planet Agenda & is core to getting companies started in this initiative. Only IBM Maximo Asset Management can help with all asset classes. A funny quote by Bill Sawyer "what is the difference between a dumb asset and a smart asset? ...the difference is IT." The crowd got a chuckle.
Bill Cheng highlighted a few key clients....Austin Energy who is at the forefront of executing towards a smarter planet. Amazing accomplishments.
Bob Vavra, gave an overview of the new study...The Changing World of the Plant Engineer. This study is available online for you to take and also in the Maximo Solution Center at the IBM Pulse 2010 conference. The results of the study will be available March 28th in Chicago, with links to it from our Maximo Asset Management Service Resource Management Center........stay tuned.
Clay Nesler, from JCI gave a good overview of the new partnership between JCI & IBM to address smart buildings for a smart grid. He took us through "a day in the life" of a smart building. "You shouldn't measure a building's efficiency by the amount of sensors." The scenario was great! Highlights included:
Since JCI manages 1.5 BILLION square feet of space in 75 countries, Clay was truly a great speaker to have at our conference!
Donnie Martin and Marie Gilman from Tennessee Valley Authority presented "lights, camera, action", a summary of their success with IBM Maximo Asset Management. TVA makes electricity, but they made it in 50 different ways! They told how folks said "are we really live" because there were no calls to the help desk. A true testament to working together with IBM.
Chet Talley presented this year's awards. Highlights of our award winners will be in my next blog.
Stay tuned for videos of many of today's speakers coming soon!
