Today's blog comes from Mayuri Konwar.
At the CES 2012, attendees had the opportunity to see Jerry Bruce, Consulting IT Specialist for the IBM Global Solution Center, demonstrate the Enhanced Service Delivery with Asset Management and Analytics solution which includes the IBM Maximo Asset Management product.
Jerry showed how this solution enables precise monitoring of condition, utilization and managing access privileges for devices in an organization. He also noted that suitable service requests are automatically generated for any necessary actions.
For organizations, this particular feature develops a trend analysis that allows them to leverage data coming from smarter products to deliver enhanced services and products in optimized condition.
Also at the conference, Gregory Jones, Senior IT Specialist for the IBM Global Solution Center, demonstrated the IBM Real Time Asset Locator solution with a zone-based scenario using tagged assets and people. This solution tracks and monitors assets in real-time to provide visibility of resources, improve asset utilization, and optimize asset management processes.
As Greg explained to the audience, “A visitor entering a restricted area causes a notification to be sent or equipment entering a maintenance room automatically opens a work order. This improves asset utilization and employee productivity by providing the current location of existing resources.” As a result, capital expenditures are reduced, business rules and regulatory requirements are enforced with location-based events and automatically-triggered workflows.
Videos are available for both solutions (see links below) and more information about both for these solutions can be found on the Service Management For Electronics web site where you can find out more about how IBM solutions make organizations smarter, secure and adaptable to change.
