On May 18th at 12pm ET, we live-streamed a special program from New York City containing exciting news around the IBM social collaboration capabilities. This special event complemented our activities at DNUG in Bonn, Germany with DNUG and the IBM Exceptional Web Experience Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Alistair Rennie, Jeff Schick, and Caleb Barlow shared some very good customer stories such as Reliance Insurance, the US Open, and the City of Fort Worth. They also highlighted just some of the new capabilities in IBM Connections, Sametime, and LotusLive. Ted Stanton finished off the hour with a wonderfully rich demo showing off some of these new capabilities. Nothing helps more to understand these new features than to see them in action. I loved the Blackberry and iPad elements myself.

I wanted to share this report documenting a great social business tool we use at IBM...the "jam". This one is of particular interest to this community as it is specifically about the use of social tools in the workplace. Here are the intro paragraphs to the report:

We are having a record year with our Social Business Roadshow events. I have had the privilege of speaking at a number of these events and what has been even more exciting has been the number of people that I've met who are venturing down the road of becoming a 'social business'. I've been impressed at not only the interest in the topic, but also the passion that people are showing for their belief in how social technologies can have a significant positive impact on the way their companies conduct business.
On one occasion, I was asked to shorten my normal 45 minute session into 20 minutes...not easy to do for something I could easy talk about for hours (just ask anyone who has the misfortune of sitting next to me on a trans-Atlantic flight and happens to ask, "So what do you do?"). The organizers recorded the session, so I took the audio portion and overlaid it on my slide deck. I wanted to post it here for anyone who might find it informational and for some who have asked for it to use as an introduction of social business in their organizations.
So enjoy and feel free to make any comments or suggestions regarding the content. I would appreciate hearing any questions or concerns that strike you as you listen to this session. I will warn those of you who may be attending a future roadshow this year: If I have the honor of giving the keynote, you are going to see much of this same material again. It's like watching long trailers of movies to come. Sometimes it gives the entire movie away. So be warned.
