Creating database indexes for class properties (default search)

To optimize the performance of those queries that search a class property, create an index for the property in the object store database. You can use the administration console to create the index in some circumstances.

About this task

Restriction: If case-insensitive search behavior is in effect, do not use the administration console to create the index for any of the following database providers:
  • Oracle
  • DB2® for z/OS®
  • DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows

Procedure

To create an index for a class property with the administration console:

  1. Access the document class property definitions in the administration console:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, click the object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, click Data Design > Classes > Document.
    3. Select the document class.
    4. In the details pane, click the Property Definitions tab.
  2. On the Property Definitions tab, click the property. A Property Definition window opens.
  3. In the Property Definition window, click the General tab and select Single indexed. When the single indexing option is selected or cleared for a class property, the option is automatically selected or cleared for all subclasses of the class.
