Selecting text languages for an object store
To make searches as effective as possible, select a language set for the object store that reflects the languages of your documents. This selected language set constitutes the possible languages for a document. For example, if the possible languages are English and French, IBM Content Search Services identifies the language for a document as either English or French. This language identification occurs when the document is indexed.

Maintaining indexes for the CBR text configuration
After changing the CBR text configuration, reindex the appropriate classes, objects, or indexes to make the wanted text searchable. Also, configure the object indexing process and the storage of index information to optimize index or search performance or to control system resources.

Setting the CBR-enabled status for a property
Set a string or string list property as CBR-enabled to allow full-text searches of property text. For example, you can search the DocumentTitle property of objects if you set the property to be CBR-enabled. Only those objects that belong to a CBR-enabled class can be searched.

Setting the CBR-enabled status for a class
Set a class as CBR-enabled to allow full-text searches for objects in the class. For example, you can search the content of a Document objects if you set the Document class to be CBR-enabled. Only indexable classes can be set as CBR-enabled.

Setting XML elements as non-searchable
To minimize the files sizes of indexes, define XML elements as surplus to prevent the indexing of those elements. An element that is not indexed cannot be found by a search. Consequently, define an XML element as surplus only if you are not interested in searching for that element.

Enabling PDF-specific text extraction
For more accurate indexing of PDF documents that are written in right-to-left language, specify that Content Platform Engine use the Apache PDFBox technology for text extraction. Some examples of right-to-left languages are Arabic and Hebrew.

Indexable document types and text extraction
An indexable document is a document that Content Platform Engine deems eligible for indexing and that the Oracle Outside In Search Export product can convert to text. The specific types of convertible documents depend on the version of the Oracle product that is used in your Content Platform Engine release. Content Platform Engine determines the eligibility of a document for indexing by identifying the MIME type of the document. Some MIME types are considered to be ineligible for indexing.

Indexable base classes
The objects that can be indexed are the objects that belong to a CBR-enabled class. An indexable class is a class that can be CBR-enabled.

Text language codes
Language codes identify the languages for which IBM Content Search Services can index a document.

MIME types: Eligibility for indexing
Some MIME types are considered to be ineligible for indexing. If the MIME type that Content Platform Engine identifies for a document is an ineligible type, Content Platform Engine deems the document to be ineligible for indexing.
