IBM Support

Known issue in Windows shared disk environments with TSA MP

Question & Answer

Question

Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatforms (TSA MP) does not support management and automation of file systems on direct attached disks on Windows platforms which are shared across multiple hosts.

Answer

Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatforms (TSA MP) on Windows does not offer support for management and automation of file systems on direct attached disks on Windows platforms as product functionality. The storage resource manager product component is not available on the Windows platform.
Although it is possible to represent file systems on shared storage as IBM.Application resources and therefore manage them using TSA MP via customized policies, this is not a supported environment on a Windows platform since there is a considerable risk of data corruption. We therefore discourage use of file systems on shared storage on Windows platforms with TSA MP because there is a considerable risk of data corruption.

If a supported solution for shared storage is required, a file system like NFS, GPFS or SMB can be imported .

This support statement is specific to the Windows platform only.
