APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When user removes an IP address from a virtual machine via the
    User Interface, the operation is not alway successful. The
    exception is not handled  and may result in the PureApplication
    virtual management system to consider the the IP address
    "available" and reassign the IP to a different virtual machine.
    

Local fix

  • Remove the duplicate deploys and reassign the IP address to the
    original virtual machine via the UI virtual machine view.
    

Problem summary

  • The code handling the error condition was logging an error but
    not throwing an exception that could be handled by the system.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been updated to throw an exception and fail the IP
    address remove operation.
