APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Executing /usr/lpp/diagnostics/bin/uesensor -l returns the
message "There are no environmental sensors on this system."
However, the system may or may not have environmental sensors.

In some cases, firmware chooses not to expose the
environmental sensors to the operating system. Of course, if
any of the environmental sensors indicated a value out of
normal operating range, then an error would get reported to
the operating system and AIX diagnostics would analyze and
    report the error.

Problem summary

Problem conclusion

  • Change /usr/lpp/diagnostics/bin/uesensor in
devices.chrp.base.diag to output the message "This function
is not supported on this system." whenever firmware is not
exposing any environmental sensors to the operating system.
