IT00004: NOT ABLE TO ADD 2 OR MORE EXTRA STORAGE DEVICES TO AN EXTENDED AIX IMAGE AND THEN CAPTURE

Error description

• When adding 2 or more storage devices to an extended AIX image
  on a Power Pure Application System, the message, "Failed to load
   the virtual image in the catalog" may be seen in the Virtual
  Images panel after attempting to capture the image.  A message
  similar to what is shown below may also be seen in the Workload
  Deployer trace logs:

  This error is not encountered if only one extra storage device
  is added to the extended image.  In this case, the extended
  image can be captured successfully with the one extra storage
  device.
  

Local fix

• Add only one storage device to the extended image.  Make it
  large enogh to compensate for the extra space that was going to
  be added via the additional storage devices.
  

Problem summary

• An update needs to be made to the method that is called during
  image capture to modify the OVF in VMControl. New code also
  needs to be added to add additional interfaces to the OVF file
  during image capture.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code has been updated to fix the problem.
