Error description

  • A virtual system pattern script package that worked in IBM
PureApplication System v1.0 fails to complete after upgrading to
IBM PureApplication System 1.1

The script package was timing out due to a timeout value that
was too low.

Local fix

  • Check the script timeout setting.

Timeout is the maximum amount of time, expressed in
milliseconds, in which the script is expected to complete its
execution.  The value of this parameter is displayed in the
Timeout field of the Script Packages pane when the compressed
script package is uploaded.

The default value is 60000000 (1000 minutes). A value
of 0 specifies to wait indefinitely for the script to complete.

If the timeout value is exceeded, Status.TIMEOUT_FAILED is
returned, and execution is stopped.
    Example (timeout value of 2 minutes, specified as 120,000
milliseconds):

    "timeout": "120000",

When the script package is downloaded, this value is written
in the cbscript.json file.

Problem summary

  • The script package timeout value in milliseconds was being
ignored in IBM PureApplication System version 1.0. The default
value of 60000000 milliseconds was used. After the upgrade the
the script package timeout value set in the script package is
being used.

Problem conclusion

  • The code executing script packages was updated to parse and use
the timeout value specified by the users.
