APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When the System Monitoring shared service performs a scale-in
due to reduced workload any monitoring agents connected to a
node that is removed will not be automatically reconfigured to
use one of the remaining nodes.

Local fix

  • The affected workload nodes in a virtual system or virtual
application can be restarted to discover a new System Monitoring
node.
For virtual applications the Monitoring operation to disconnect
and then connect the agents can be used as a workaround.

Problem summary

  • The problem was caused by a missing environment variable
in multiple setup scripts required for the monitoring agent to
successfully execute during the scale-in operation.

Problem conclusion

  • The monitoring agent script files have been corrected.
