Description
Use Tivoli® System Automation Application Manager as single point of control for disaster recovery. Application data is replicated software-based with IBM DB2® high availability disaster recovery (HADR) across data centers. This generic solution can be customized to your application landscape.
With this pre-canned automation policy, Tivoli® System Automation Application Manager as single
point of control for disaster recovery (DR). Application data is replicated
software-based with IBM DB2® high availability disaster recovery (HADR) across data centers. This
generic solution can be customized to your application landscape.
DB2 HADR is a built-in software-based data replication technology. This DR solution can be applied to applications using DB2 as the primary datastore. It is applicable for example to applications within the cloud management stack.
With this policy Tivoli System Automation Application Manager is able to control start-up and shutdown of the application on different sites and controls the replication of its data. Its web-based operations console provides a single point of control for operating, high availability and disaster recovery.
By integrating DB2 HADR, Tivoli System Automation Application Manager can control which site the database is accessible by the application and how the data is replicated. The web-based operations console of System Automation Application Manager is a single point of control. It enables operating of the entire composite application which can be spread cross different high availability clusters, cross operating systems, cross platforms and even cross sites. System Automation Application Manager acts as DR manager which controls applications and replication.
The operator can easily initiate a site fail-over and fallback from both data centers. System Automation Application Manager then automatically coordinates the proper shutdown of the composite application, the DB2 HADR takeover and the ordered start-up of the application at the other site.
Solution example:
An Operator chooses with one mouse-click on which site to start the composite application
