The IBM TotalStorage® SAN256B is a next generation high-performance, high-density and high-availability SAN director. It is scalable from 16 to 384 ports and contains two control processors for high availability. From one to eight switch port blades can be configured, each of which contains either 16, 32 or 48 Fibre Channel (FC) ports. Each FC port can support 4, 2 or 1 Gigabits per second (Gbps) link speeds. One or two routing blades can be configured, each of which contains sixteen FC ports plus two 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports for connection to an Internet Protocol (IP) network.
