Description:

The IBM PureFlex System is a new category of computing that combines multiple server architectures, networking, chassis, storage, and system management capability into a single integrated system that is easy to deploy and manage.

This introductory class on Power compute nodes starts with an IBM Power Systems overview, a comprehensive review of the IBM Flex System Power compute nodes, PowerVM and virtualization concepts, how to manage Power node virtual servers, and lastly Power node software installation. Lab exercises are performed after each unit to reinforce the content.

This course assumes little Virtualization knowledge by the attendee.It will discuss the benefits that can be gained by customers in virtualizing their environment with PowerVM VIOS and IBM SAN Storage. It can then be extended into a Highly Available environment with Live Partition Mobility and PowerHA. These topics will be presented through a combination of lecture, demo and hands on labs. Labs will include creating Network and Storage configurations for VIOS as well as creating a highly redundant clustered VIOS environment with PowerHA.
