IBM Software's Open product portfolio is about reaching the broadest market possible. Open products provide a rapid path to begin work in expanding market segments and upsell solutions during existing sales. IBM products like the IBM Express portfolio and WebSphere Application Server are included to help you meet these objectives. The Open products portfolio (PDF, 120KB) is available for all Business Partners to resell.
Business Partners who resell through open distribution will gain:
- Expanded awareness, through midmarket advertising in 15 countries.
- Expanded access, with hands on visibility and training through major brand events (e.g. Tivoli Pulse) and IBM Innovation Centers.
Customers look to experts who understand their business to help them achieve their objectives. IBM is committed to fostering an ecosystem of skilled IBM Business Partners to help meet those customer needs. To support that, IBM will be moving a number of products from Open distribution to Software Value Plus (SVP) Authorized distribution, effective 01 July 2012.

View the table listing products that will be under SVP authorized Product Groups as of 01 July 2012. As of that date, Business Partner firms that wish to remarket any of these products will need to be approved to remarket the appropriate Product Group(s) noted, which will require you to have an applicable IBM Business Partner Agreement in place, if you do not already have one.
IBM Passport Advantage
Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express are simple, comprehensive IBM offerings that cover software license acquisition including Fixed Term Licenses and Software Subscription and Support, product upgrades and technical support under a single, common set of agreements, processes and tools.
Passport Advantage is designed for larger enterprises, while Passport Advantage Express, a transaction-based offering, is designed to meet the needs of medium-sized businesses.
The majority of the IBM software portfolio is sold through Passport Advantage, a customer program designed to provide IBM customers with worldwide software license acquisition, including Fixed Term Licenses and Software Subscription and Support. Passport Advantage customers can acquire licenses, software maintenance, and renewals online, through IBM directly or through IBM Business Partners.
