PowerNet is a mature and established IBM Business Partner program, designed to generate solution sales into new mid market customers. IBM PowerNet is in its sixth year and continues to experience strong growth and support from IBM and the wider community.
The program works by creating selling networks or coalitions. A PowerNet Contract Holder teams with one (or more) IBM resellers, independent software vendors (ISVs) and, where applicable, systems integrators to deliver the solution to the customer. Supported by IBM, the PowerNet team works closely to advise and support the new coalition.
What is PowerNet?
The PowerNet program is designed to provide complete end-to-end IT business solutions to customers in small and medium-sized organisations. The PowerNet program comprises the following three key areas:
- Recruitment: New ISVs are continually recruited into PowerNet to establish solution-led teams.
- Co-marketing: Funding might be available for registered coalitions to run marketing tactics to drive business.
- Solution selling: Solutions are made up of the ISV application and a mix of IBM brands, including:
- IBM Power Systems™ (IBM AIX®, IBM I and Linux®), IBM System x® and Retail Store Solutions
- IBM Software Group Internet Security Systems (ISS)
- IBM Global Technology Services
- IBM Maintenance and Technical Support (MTS)
Who can join PowerNet?
The PowerNet program is currently open to IBM resellers and ISVs.
This network of IBM Business Partners, led by the IBM PowerNet Sales Leader, combines its strengths to create a multi-Business Partner solution for a specific target market.
PowerNet has an experienced and highly skilled Focus Solutions Team with specific knowledge into a variety of vertical market segments.

Why should I join PowerNet?
As an IBM reseller or ISV joining the PowerNet community, you will benefit from:
- Matching up with a complementary reseller or ISV and PowerNet Contract Holder to form a powerful coalition.
- Up-front IBM marketing investment to deliver campaigns led by your solution into new midmarket niches.
- Increasing your revenue by selling solutions to newly identified customers.

How can I join PowerNet?
Can you:
- Accept revenue target?
- Assign sales headcount to drive PowerNet revenue?
- Assign marketing headcount to drive PowerNet revenue?
- Assign resource to load lead opportunities via IBM’s lead tracking system?
A typical reseller will be able to develop PowerNet relationships with at least five ISVs.
Distributors provide:
- Marketing assistance
- Distributor will manage the relationship with IBM (Management of the relationship with IBM)
- Will manage the PowerNet business process. (Management of the PowerNet business process)
- Manage contract with IBM (Contract management with IBM)
If you are an IBM reseller
Contact the PowerNet and Ecosystem team to sign up through a PowerNet contract holder.
The contract holder will be able to link with IBM to help identify suitable ISVs for your team to work with.
Most Business Partner resellers sign up to PowerNet through a distributor. However, if you can answer yes to all of the following questions, you could become a direct Contract Holder.

Contact the PowerNet and Ecosystems Recruitment Manager, who will be able to match you with potential IBM Resellers and a Contract Holder.
PowerNet Contract Holders will be able to:
- Provide marketing assistance
- Manage the relationship with IBM
- Oversee the PowerNet business process
- Handle the overall contract with IBM
