The IBM Global Asset Recovery Services (GARS) organization within IBM Global Financing handles end of lease returns and asset buyback and is one of the world’s largest, most efficient reverse logistics organizations. When you’re helping a client part with old IT or buy refurbished equipment, it’s crucial that you work with a partner you can trust.
- Worldwide, IBM Global Asset Recovery Services processes over 35,000 machines (1.35 million pounds) per week.
- In 2010, 88.5 percent of the total units processed through GARS remanufacturing and refurbishment operations were readied for resale and reuse and 11.5 percent were scrapped.
- GARS scrap operations are so efficient that almost 99 percent of the material is recycled and / or recovered and a mere 1.06 percent is disposed of by incineration and landfill.
