The new Systems Director 6.3, the new Systems Director VMControl 2.4 and updated Systems Director plug-ins announced on Oct. 12, 2011, are now available for download on ibm.com. IBM Systems Software, the Integrating Force in Smarter Computing, delivers new cloud-ready capabilities to improve system utilization and increase staff productivity, with the new Systems Director v 6.3 and the new Systems Director VMControl 2.4.

KVM for Server Virtualization: An Open Source Solution Comes of Age
Server virtualization has quickly become a trusted, mainstream solution aboard x86 servers. KVM, which stands for kernel-based virtual machine, is the newest hypervisor to enter the virtualization market, and it joins a market that already has no fewer than four other major solutions in place. Like several other Type 1 hypervisors, it is embedded into an operating system (OS), namely Linux. However, the implementation of KVM into the OS is unique in several ways.
