Unplugged is a mobilization platform for that extends the capability of the IBM Notes® and Domino® platform. Unplugged brings an offline mobile capability to the Domino platform, allowing mobile apps to run even when the wireless network is unavailable.

Unplugged includes a local database engine running on the mobile device which can be programmed using XPages and which syncs via the Unplugged replicator to the IBM® Domino® server using standard transport protocols (http/https). Unplugged includes mobile Teamroom and mobile Document Library applications which are able to sync with the IBM Domino server and run with full offline capability. We also include the Unplugged Controls library of XPages Custom Controls to developers who need to create mobile applications quickly using Domino Designer.

  • + Functional details

Teamstudio Unplugged extends the mobile development technology model by enabling customers to develop corporate applications for mobile devices and provision them offline. Customers have the ability to deploy a template or custom IBM Domino® applications offline, securely, with the ability to synchronize or “replicate” on demand wirelessly. Users have access to all application data and full functionality anytime, anywhere.

Applications are customizable and can take advantage of features like camera support. Unplugged operates across all major mobile operating systems and mobile devices. These applications are instant-on, always-available, even offline.

  • + Business problem

Teamstudio's Unplugged is the key for Users who don’t want to be tied to a desk to remain productive. Unplugged provides efficiency and productivity by mobilizing traditionally immobile business applications. Users gain access to app data, anywhere, anytime, with or without an Internet connection.

  • + Business opportunity

The business case for implementing the Teamstudio Unplugged platform is to gain productivity and efficiency by providing mobile access and offline capabilities to traditionally immobile Notes®/Domino® based business applications. Cost avoidance is an additional motivation for our customers who require mobile application access by their Users, but do not have the budget to invest in back-end technologies that provide mobility natively. Various customers have observed the following benefits from having implemented Unplugged:

    • Development of an approvals application provided seamless approvals via the device or the Notes client

    • Adherence to existing SOX controls as the approvals executed using the new mobile applications are fully compliant with SOX guidelines

    • Users are able to see detailed information about critical requests and are able to take action even while on the move which is very essential for the smooth running of the business

    • Control over processes and improved efficiency and time saving for application administrators

    • A mobile workforce with the ability to use workflow applications successfully on the move, with or without connectivity

    • Users don’t have to go through a steep learning curve since the lightweight mobile client is very similar to the IBM Notes® client they’re used to

    • Use of unlimited internal existing applications - once Unplugged is implemented, organizations can mobilize an unlimited number of applications

  • + Return on investment

Companies can instantly become more productive and efficient by being able to access business applications regardless of their physical location. Also, by using XPages, Unplugged leverages existing skills already prevalent in the Notes® community. This eliminates the requirement for developers to learn new skills, lessens the cost of training and also shortens the time to market for application delivery. Teamstudio Unplugged comes equipped with a suite of free mobilized templates for immediate deployment and instant ROI - Domino® Journal, Teamroom and Document Library.

  • + Competitive advantage

Unlike competitor tools, Unplugged leverages developers’ existing Domino® development skills by using the XPages environment to build mobile applications. These applications provide Users flexibility to complete work even while away from their office computer.

Unplugged also offers secure offline access to application data and full functionality of the app even when offline. In addition, Unplugged provides the ability to remotely provision or remove applications from Users with a simple click. Unplugged allows for replication of profile permissions based on group or profile membership. For example if a user is added to a profile, a suite of applications are added to their device. If the profile is changed in any way, those changes will also be reflected on the User’s device.
