The genesis of this product is from the horrific disaster which occurred with a terrorist bomb aboard the Pan Am Flight, which exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, UK. The product has been successfully tested in real, live events in the UK and simulated large scale disasters such as a ship sinking in the English Channel. UK Councils have a statutory obligation to set up Emergency Rest Centres for disaster or crisis events, to cater for the affected members of the public. In its most basic form ERC will register or 'tag' people arriving at Emergency Rest Centres and ensure that immediate needs are logged into the ERC system eg insulin, dietary, medical, pets, religious etc. With a unique link to the central UK Police database (other national police databases can be added), and other agencies eg Red Cross, it means that the Police and key authorities can begin to know who is where and who is missing..Thus stranded people in the event of a crisis can be alerted to the necessary authorities for pick up. People can be logged in and out of the Rest Centre in a controlled manner.Out moded , unsecure, slow and very expensive paper based systems are unnecessary thus eradicating audit exposures to key authorities and most importantly improving the health and safety of the public. ERC allows large organisations and 'big' Government to enact business continuity plans.
