RACF and DB2 Security Administrator Version 1.0

Tab navigation

This product will provide a Graphical User Interface (GUI) to IBM’s Security Server (RACF) and DB2 Security, plus the ability to store information in an external file system for reporting purposes. The external file system will be limited to two types supported on z/OS and one universal type for implementation on various platforms. This interface will allow users to query current RACF or DB2 security information, build RACF or DB2 commands for later execution and maintain security information at a business entity level. This will provide a powerful set of base functions to maintain an existing RACF data base or DB2 Security environments via a simple workstation user interface. The intent is to extract information from an existing RACF data base and DB2 security tables via IBM provided routines and place the information into either a series of DB2 tables or VSAM files on z/OS or to utilize an ODBC interface to store the information on a distributed platform. In all cases, the extracted information may serve as a backup copy of the active information and a data warehouse for reporting purposes. The information may also be utilized to build RACF or DB2 commands to alter the z/OS Security Server database and DB2 security tables without direct execution of these commands. The “passive command interface” helps ensure the integrity of the security system by allowing the security control group within an enterprise to control changes to the running system.
