SL’s RTView for APM (Application Performance Monitoring) gives IBM users unique application-centric views into critical applications and services via a lightweight, rapidly deployed monitoring solution. With visibility into the complete health state of their environment, application support teams can quickly understand the impact of a problem and where to go to fix it. In generating these holistic views, RTView is able to involve all relevant information, including both events and data from existing monitoring solutions, such as Netcool and Tivoli, and from deep-dive monitoring of IBM middleware. This enables users to provide single-pane-of-glass, cross-vendor monitoring across virtually all middleware and components supporting their critical applications. Users are able to obtain all important performance metrics from these systems using flexible agent-based and/or agentless solutions. SL’s offering also includes direct monitoring packages for WebSphere® Application Server, DB2® and WebSphere MQ®. The RTView for APM platform is further able to help companies deploying in the IBM SmartCloud™ to quickly deploy cloud-based monitoring of those applications and components. The RTView agent and the complete RTView monitoring system, can be deployed in the SmartCloud.

  • + Functional details

APPLICATION-CENTRIC VIEWS Provide all information, filters, displays and alerts from an application-centric perspective. LIGHTWEIGHT The lightweight, flexible nature of RTView extends monitoring to situations where integrating with existing, more complex monitoring solutions is not feasible. RAPIDLY DEPLOYED Out-of-the-box adapters and pre-built displays enable rapid deployment that meets the exact needs of each team. CROSS-VENDOR MONITORING Monitor events from event management tools such as Netcool and other existing monitoring solutions. SINGLE-PANE-OF-GLASS Aggregate all monitoring metrics and alerts into an integrated real-time view, with historical context.

  • + Business problem

RTView for APM addresses the problem faced by application support teams of how to quickly identify the business impact of performance issues in their cloud-based application and what components of the application are triggering the problem. RTView enables monitoring of both IBM and cross-vendor components, making possible true end-to-end visibility into the health state of critical cloud-based applications.

  • + Business opportunity

RTView for APM allows you to easily monitor IBM and cross-vendor components in both your cloud and on-premise environments.

  • + Competitive advantage

RTView provides a different way of monitoring through a true application and service-centric solutions view. The lightweight, flexible nature of SL’s RTView product is of particular use in cloud-based development and test environments where integrating with on-premise monitoring solutions may be impractical. The RTView agent for monitoring IBM components and optionally, the whole monitoring system, can be deployed in the SmartCloud. In addition to support for IBM middleware, the RTView platform can be configured to monitor numerous other middleware components, enabling users to provide cross-vendor monitoring across virtually all on-premise and cloud-based middleware. RTView for APM platform may optionally provide integrated deployment of RTView within the IBM Workload Deployer (IWD).
