Stingray Traffic Manager

Tab navigation

Stingray Traffic Manager provides high-availability, application traffic management, and load balancing solutions. These solutions provide control, intelligence, security and resilience for all application traffic. Stingray traffic management is intended for organizations hosting valuable business-critical services, such as TCP and UDP-based services like HTTP (web) and media delivery, and XML-based services such as Web Services. Stingray’s unique process architecture ensures it can handle large volumes of network traffic efficiently. Its TrafficCluster scalability allows you to add more front-end traffic managers or back-end servers to your cluster as the need arises. The cluster size is unlimited, and the performance of the traffic manager grows in line with the performance of the hardware. Stingray traffic management products are secure out-of-the-box, and are hardened against intrusion and Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. They incorporate the fastest and strongest SSL encryption technologies, and can efficiently decrypt and encrypt large numbers of SSL connections. For critical, high-availability solutions, Stingray offers TrafficCluster redundancy that allows you to have unlimited numbers of active and passive standby front-end servers. If an active server fails, a standby server is automatically brought into action, ensuring there is never a single point of failure in the system.

  • + Functional details

Stingray Traffic Manager is a full-featured, high performance virtual/software ADC providing rich support for: Load Balancing High Availability Fault Tolerance SSL and XML Offload Content Compression HTTP Caching HTTP Multiplexing TCP Offload Monitoring Bandwidth and Rate Shaping Server Isolation Traffic Filtering and Scrubbing Scalable, Distributed Application Firewall TrafficScript Rules Language and Java Extensions Service Level Monitoring Reporting and Alerting Control and Event API

  • + Business problem

Application delivery controllers accelerate transactions, maximize availability, manage security policies, and provide a point of control to monitor and manage application traffic. Stingray Traffic Manager is a software-based ADC that provides unprecedented scale and flexibility to deliver applications across the widest range of environments, from physical and virtual data centers to public and hybrid clouds.

  • + Business opportunity

Stingray Traffic Manager benefits include: Speed: Accelerate services, increase capacity, and reduce costs by offloading performance-draining tasks such as SSL and compression onto Stingray Traffic Manager’s optimized implementations. Cache commonly requested content and optimize traffic delivery to applications so they’ll run as fast as they would in a perfect benchmark environment. Reliability: Improve application availability by intelligently distributing traffic, avoiding failed or degraded servers, monitoring performance problems, and shaping traffic spikes. Improved security: Stingray Traffic Manager operates as a deny-all gateway, only admitting traffic types it has been configured to admit. This provides full control over how traffic is internally routed. High-performance inspection can interrogate any part of a request or response to apply global filtering or scrubbing policies. The Stingray Application Firewall option also protects against a broad range of web application attacks. Ease of management: Stingray Traffic Manager makes it easy to manage how users interact with applications, and the infrastructure those applications depend on. Use it to shape, prioritize, and route traffic, to drain infrastructure resources prior to maintenance, and to upgrade user sessions across application instances, all while preserving the user experience that business demands.

  • + Return on investment

Consolidation and virtualization projects aim to reduce costs and to improve flexibility and responsiveness. But when services depend on sophisticated components that are not deployed within the virtual platform, virtualization’s benefits will never be completely realized. The Stingray virtual ADC can be run natively within the virtual infrastructure for greater choice and flexibility when deploying application resources. It also provides improved performance and reduced latency compared to external ADC devices. Stingray can also leverage public and private compute cloud technologies to extend to hybrid cloud architectures as required.

  • + Competitive advantage

Designed from the ground up for virtualization, Stingray represents a better approach for Application Delivery Controllers (ADC's) in private cloud, public cloud, and data center deployments. Stingray Traffic Manager frees applications from the constraints of proprietary, hardware-based ADC's, enabling them to run in any physical, virtual, or cloud environment. This model allows applications to migrate and scale on demand. Stingray Traffic Manager is one of the fastest software-based ADCs on the market with best in class price-performance.
