Gemalto Prox DU & SU for Tivoli Access Manager ESSO Serial ID authentication 1.0

Tab navigation

Implementing Single Sign On brings great benefits to the users and the enterprise, however concentrating all the access rights of the user on one credentials may become a security concern. Often organizations will chose to deploy two factor authentication as part of a SSO project to ensure that the convenience of the solution is not at the detriment of security.

A popular choice to provide this additional layer of the security is the use of contactless Corporate. The Gemalto readers are integrated with TAM ESSO through a DSP library and can support most of the supported ISO 14443 compliant cards:

* The Prox DU can address the cards via contact interface and contactless interface. This is the ideal choice for situations where the users need also to use their badge for other application such as digital signatures which requires the use of a contact interface ( user credentials are often not unavailable through contactless interfaces).

* The Prox SU is ideal in situations where the user is not expected to use the badge for other purposes than their authentication in contactless mode. The Prox SU also has a slot for a Security Module needed for certain contactless security scheme that requires the mutual authentication of the card and the reader. Both readers have a USB interface and use the native PC/SC drivers built by default in recent OS and are therefore plug and play. They have ergonomic designs with optional stand base for convenient desktop use.
