IXI-UMS Unified Messaging Server

Tab navigation

IXI-UMS of serVonic extends SMTP-based messaging systems such as IBM Lotus Domino with the features fax, voice box, pager/short message service and mobile possibilities. The messaging system together with IXI-UMS features enables the user to handle all methods of communication within one user interface. Sending and receiving emails is done via the messaging system. This system serves as transport medium for all messages supposed to come from the client workplace to the IXI-UMS, and the other way round.

IXI-UMS Fax sends the faxes, which where made at the users workplace. The server provides incoming faxes directly in the inbox as email with TIF or PDF file attachment.

The IXI-UMS Voice feature provides the user with a personal answering machine. In absence of the user, IXI-UMS plays an announcement for the caller, stores the recorded voice message in the inbox as email with WAV-file attachment. The IXI-UMS SMS service allows the user to send short messages to mobile phones. Incoming short messages are stored in the inbox in free text format.

IXI-UMS mobile enables the users to access and work on his messages when away from the office via mobile phone. The user works with the Notes Client, he doesn't need to get to know a new user interface and works with the familiar address lists.

The IXI-UMS software works directly with the Notes databases, replication isn't necessary. The administrator administers the functions in the familiar environment with the familiar tools.

  • + Functional details

At the workstation: All the messages are available within the user interface you also administer your e-mails with. Accessing, reading, arranging, storing, answering: everything in one go and within one user interface. On the way: Due to the storage within one user interface, you cannot only access your e-mails via the conventional connection options, but also all the other IXI-UMS messages. If no communication connection is available, the mobile phone will do. You can access your voice mails by remote inquiry, serVonic's server sends your faxes and e-mails to you. Afterwards you forward the messages to a fax machine on-site, answer or delete them.

  • + Business problem

Email, fax, voice, SMS - all these are communication media of the modern office routine. In order to make use of all these communication media, the employee has to work with various devices: e-mails are sent and received via PC, faxes are exchanged by means of a fax machine, calls arrive at the voice box and short messages are exchanged between mobile phones. To unify all these messages within one user interface - this is what IXI-UMS promises.

  • + Business opportunity

Saving time, saving money, increasing efficiency are the slogans:

    • The PC becomes the universal device; the single employee can control the entire communication from his workstation. This avoids e.g. not only the way to the fax device, but also the long queues in front of it.
    • The user does not have to think about the way one wants to reach him and vice versa. He receives and sends all messages within Notes client
    • Easy administration and organization as all IXI-UMS messages are emails
    • All messages can be included in the workflow. Not only emails but faxes, SMS, voice mails can be forwarded, deposited in public folders or archived
    • Rules and filter criteria that can be set up with the respective e-mail client can also be applied for faxes, short messages and voice mails, e.g. forwarding of messages when absent
    • With the feature "IXI-UMS Sender Identification" incoming messaging are associated rapidly and can be treated accordingly
    • The user can handle the new IXI-UMS unified messaging features intuitively. He works with the e-mail interface he is used to, e.g. Notes Client or MS Outlook. He receives and sends all sorts of messages with the usual e-mail client, he does not have to learn a new program
    • The user on the way can be informed automatically, rule-based about new messages - e-mails, faxes, short messages, voice mails. The user can access his messages from anywhere, by mobile phone, phone, Web or WAP. He can listen to the messages and work on them, e.g. forward, answer or delete them.
