The key to using the SLIM-Suite of analysis tools is providing them some basic data. The minimum dataset for leveraging the QSM products are size/scope, schedule, effort and defects. This minimum dataset is advocated and endorsed but many leading industry standards organizations like the SEI’s CMMI and ISO 9000. In the past these metrics would have to be manually collected from many different non-integrated systems in order to leverage the advanced analytical capabilities provided by the SLIM-Suite of tools. This is about to change. The rational tool suite provides an integrated solution to accessing these important project metrics. The current QSM integration between its SLIM-Control product and IBM’s Rational Team Concert is first step in providing a truly seamless integration between IBM’s advanced development tools and QSM’s powerful analytical capabilities. By mining the information in RTC on project size (iterations, stories, etc…) and quality (defect status), SLIM-Control is able to provide a quantitative assessment of project health and predict project completion. QSM solutions provide the navigation system for the rational development tools taking readings on project metrics and constantly updating the project time of arrival, cost and quality. These solutions provide a comprehensive capability to both get the system built and to know where you are and where you are going across the project lifecycle.

  Bringing together QSM's SLIM-Control analytical capabilities with the development and work product data contained in Rational Team Concert allows management to get a quantitative health status of their projects. QSM takes metrics from RTC and turns it into actionable information, critical to knowing where projects are in their development cycles and when they are like to finish.
