According to the USDA Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), 20%-40% of WIC Participant benefits go unclaimed each month, resulting in billions of dollars of unspent potential revenue for retailers. With our WIC mobile application and kiosks, the participant knows precisely what benefits remain available to them and is far more likely to make purchasing decisions.
In addition to providing all customers in a grocery store with valuable services such as price checking, store maps and access to loyalty accounts, Extanse provides special services to participants of the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program. WIC EBT transactions continue to be the most complex in supermarket retailing. WIC Participants do not know with certainty what products they can purchase, leading to an uncomfortable checkout experience and a slowdown in customer throughput. JPMA is helping retailers to remove the complexity by providing WIC participants with an easy means of verifying that the products they purchase are on their prescription or the state’s APL (Approved Product List). Using their mobile devices or store-based kiosks, WIC shoppers can verify the WIC eligibility of items and even verify whether the item is included in their benefits and if they can purchase the product with the benefits remaining on their prescription. Shoppers are presented with their current WIC prescription including an itemized list of remaining benefits broken down by category including quantities and sizes of all products available to them. With our WIC mobile application and kiosks, the participant knows precisely what benefits remain available to them and is far more likely to make purchasing decisions. By becoming a sponsor of the JPMA WIC mobile application, retailers gain prominent space on the shoppers device that can be used for special offers and other messaging to the participant.
Return on investment
By becoming a sponsor of the JPMA WIC mobile application, retailers gain prominent space on the shoppers device that can be used for special offers and other messaging to the participant. If the retailer has an APL of the specific WIC eligible items carried in their store, these items will be displayed under each category as the customer is making their purchasing decisions. LEB items, or “Least Expensive Brand” items (typically store brands) will be prominently displayed.
In the retail sector, Extanse can be fully integrated to backend systems like PoS Designer and other PoS systems to provide customers with the ability to view their shopping lists or loyalty accounts, price checking, view store maps and item locations, receive “Personal Pricing”® and verify items in government assist (WIC) prescriptions. In other sectors, Extanse is being used to deliver targeted content and services such as interactive lesson plans for participants in government programs, area and attraction information in city Welcome Centers and hotels, doctors offices and you can even get a Surf report or order clothing from a website at the Extanse Kiosk in Ron Jon Surf Shops. In short, Extanse is the flexible platform we use to build custom kiosk and digital signage solutions across many industries.
