No experience with mainframes is necessary. In fact, the contest is designed for students with little or no mainframe experience, increasing with difficulty as the contest progresses. Students just need to bring drive and competitive spirit and they will be ready to compete.

Why a mainframe contest?

Today's new mainframes are growing in popularity in the industry and require a new generation of mainframe experts. Exciting and great-paying jobs in many of the Fortune 1000 companies are becoming available. They want you!

Want to know more about these jobs?
Visit the Academic Initiative System z program page and see the topics under Download and learn.

You'll also find plenty of good information on last year's contest in this article: Mainframe labor pool bolstered by IBM contest.

And just for fun, go to the Mainframe Blog and check out the links to the comedy trilogy, "Mainframe - The Art of the Sale" posted on YouTube. It's likely to be the best mainframe comedy you'll see all year!
