Contest overview

In the fall semester of 2005, IBM ran the first-ever Student Mainframe Contest across the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec). See below for details.

Prizes
Prizes include:

  • 2GB iPod Nanos
  • Sony PlayStation Portables (PSP)
  • ThinkPad notebook
  • Trips to the mainframe lab in Poughkeepsie, NY

Dates

Student registration begins: September 6, 2005
Contest runs: October 3 - December 31, 2005

Why a mainframe contest?

Today's new mainframes are growing in popularity in the industry and require a new generation of mainframe experts. Exciting and great paying jobs in many of the fortune 1000 companies are becoming available. They want you!

Eligiblity

To compete, students must have an educator at their institution enrolled in the IBM Academic Initiative. Students, ask your educator to enroll at the link for educators below; enrollment takes only about 10 minutes. By enrolling, your educator will gain access to IBM products and resources at no charge.
