Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania is often called a baroque city, but you can find some buildings of gothic,
renaissance and other styles. Because of its uniqueness, the Old Town of Vilnius was inscribed into UNESCO World
Heritage List in 1994. There are only two state technical universities in Lithuania.
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is the biggest technical university in Lithuania in its eastern part.
VGTU is a leading university in business and information technology. VGTU is a member of up to 50 international
associations and/or organizations, like EUA, SEFI, OECD/IMHE, CIB, etc.
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University is participating in prestigious research programmes like NATO, Framework-5,
PHARE, etc. and networks.
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University comprises more than 3, 000 students in business and information technology.
VGTU believes that the Certified for e-business roadmaps will show students how to create and integrate all facets
of e-business solutions.
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University will introduce both the IBM Certified for e-business - Solution Advisor and
Solution Designer Certification in master degree studies and will start from 1 September 2002.
"Development of the novelties in information technology, particularly in business area, is very important for such
small countries like Lithuania. The mission of the universities is to meet demand for talented e-business
professionals. IBM Certified e-business roadmap combines both business and technical training to give students the
solid background necessary to build successful e-businesses."
