Contest overview

IBM invites college students from  the U.S. and Canada* to compete for prizes in the IBM System i Innovation Challenge.  Whether you are a computer science major or not, you can participate and win!  Just  bring your competitive spirit and creativity.

There are three parts to the Challenge and three ways to win. First we’ll test your Web research skills as you discover IBM’s System i platform. Next, explore the System i online and use your creativity to produce a video about System i. Finally, develop an innovative System i application and go for the big win!

Prizes include:

  • Trip to Nintendo™ in Redmond, Washington
  • Zend PHP Certification Training course and Zend PHP Certification Exam Voucher
  • Nintendo™ Wii's
  • Apple™ iPod nanos
  • $25 Gift certificates to Amazon.com and iTunes
  • Custom IBM 2007 System i Innovation Challenge t-shirts

Registration

Registration for the contest opens February 1, 2007, and the competition begins February 8. Students may form a team of 1 to 4 members from the same school. Multiple teams from the same school are encouraged.

Eligibility

To compete, students must be 18 years of age and currently enrolled in a two-, three- or four-year accredited college or university. Students may form a team of 1 to 4 members from the same school. Multiple teams from the same school are encouraged.

The following skills will be valuable over the course of the three stage competition:

  • Web research
  • Web application development
  • Technical writing
