Contest overview

IBM invites students from many countries across Europe and South Africa to compete for prizes in the IBM System i Innovation Challenge. Check the Eligibility section at the bottom of this page to see if your country is included in the list of participating countries. You can also refer to the Official rules section. Please note that this contest is open ONLY to students within the specific countries in Europe and in South Africa and NOT open to students outside of these countries. Whatever IT-related subject you are studying for, you can participate and win! Just bring your enthusiasm and creativity.

There are three parts to the Challenge and three ways to win. First test your Web research skills as you discover IBM’s System i platform. Next, explore the System i online and use your creativity to produce a poster about System i. Finally, develop an innovative System i application and go for the big win!

Registration

Registration for the contest begins on 15th October, 2007, and the competition begins 22nd October. Students may form a team of 1 to 4 members from the same school. Multiple teams from the same school are encouraged.

Eligibility

To compete, students must be 18 years of age and currently enrolled in a two-, three- or four-year accredited college or university. Students may form a team of 1 to 4 members from the same school. Multiple teams from the same school are encouraged. Check in the list here to see if your country is eligible: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, S. Ireland, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK.

The following skills will be valuable over the course of the three stage competition:

  • Web research
  • Web application development
  • Technical writing
