For educators

You are likely reading this because there are students at your school who want to compete in the Master the Mainframe Contest. To help us verify student eligibility, we ask that you enroll in the IBM Academic Initiative. The entire process takes only about 10 minutes.

To enroll, follow these two easy steps:

  1. Go to the IBM Academic Initiative enrollment page and follow the steps listed there.
  2. When asked to "Please specify the IBM servers you currently or plan to teach or use in your courses or research," select IBM eServer zSeries (S/390, mainframe) servers.

After you complete these two steps, your students can use your name as their Sponsoring Educator when they register for the contest. Nothing more is required of you.

Highlights of the IBM Academic Initiative

  • No costs or obligations
  • Free access to courses, textbooks and software
  • Mainframe access for you and your students at no charge
