Contest overview

This year, for the first time, IBM is running the Master the Mainframe Contest for university students across Australia.

No experience with mainframes is necessary. In fact, the contest is designed for students with little or no mainframe experience, increasing with difficulty as the contest progresses. Students only need motivation and a competitive spirit to compete.

 
 

Contest dates

  • Student registration begins: April 7th, 2008
  • Contest runs: April 7th, 2008 to June 30th, 2008
  • Contests winners announced by: July 31st, 2008
 
 

Contest prizes

Student prizes up for grabs in the Master the Mainframe Contest Australia 2008:

  • IBM Master the Mainframe T-shirts
  • Apple iPod Shuffles
  • Sony Playstation 3 consoles

Today's new mainframes are growing in popularity in the industry and require a new generation of mainframe experts. Mainframe computers handle an estimated 70 percent of all business data and are used by the vast majority of Fortune 500 companies.
