IBM Smart Business Platform

On May 1, 2008, IBM announced at the IBM Business Partner Leadership Conference, under the code name Blue Business Platform (or BBP), a broad initiative to combine hardware, software and services to tackle the cost and complexity of IT for small and medium businesses (SMBs). This new, strategic initiative aims to provide a new and compelling choice to simplify IT delivery for companies that lack the time and resources to manage computer systems. It is designed to offer software and solution providers access to new customers on a global scale and help reduce the high costs of new client acquisition, technology integration and support.

On October 7, 2008 IBM announced IBM Smart Business as the official name for this strategic initiative. This new, open platform solution has successfully launched with some of IBM's Independent Software Vendor (ISV) business partners.

ISVs continue to contact IBM about IBM Smart Business to integrate their software with the online marketplace using an application toolkit.

  • IBM Smart Market is a rich marketplace of integrated business solutions that combines leading ISV applications with proven IBM middleware, servers and services.

  • IBM Smart Business Developer's kit is a set of standard interfaces that software solution providers use to make the installation and management of their applications easy to use, consistent and compatible for SMBs.
