Solution criteria

To earn IBM System i Approved Solution validation your solution must:

  • Consist of software designed to solve a business problem.
  • Significantly add to the IBM System i function and capability.
  • Represent considerable value of the total package (a minimum of 25 percent of the System i hardware).
  • Be a business solution, not a tool or individual infrastructure product. Interfaces, utilities, tools, enablers, compilers or stand-alone databases will not be approved.
  • Be completely usable through a graphical interface (no green screen).

What you need to provide

Your solution nomination, which is part of the validation process, must include the following information:

  • IBM System i configuration required to run any software component of the solution.
  • Description of the solution that must be sold in order to justify the acquisition of a System i server or processor upgrade.
  • Confirmation of at least three customer installations where the solution is installed on a System i server in the 12 months prior to nomination. For newly developed solutions, you must be able to demonstrate the functionality of the application on a System i server upon request by IBM.
  • Customer invoices that indicate the sale of a substantial software product.
  • The country you regard as your largest market for the solution (including your leading reseller in that country) located within Europe, the Middle East, or Africa.
  • Marketing activities to promote your solution.
