Enabling innovation

Portrait of Jim Corgel

Innovation matters. In a world where companies, organizations, and individuals are racing to differentiate themselves, innovative ideas are more valuable than ever. Companies know this: in last year's survey of more than 750 CEOs around the world, innovation was cited as their number one priority.

But how do you do it? How do you become more innovative? It starts with collaboration. No one can do it alone. Collaboration is needed to experiment, invent, and test new technologies. Organizations need to strengthen collaboration if they want to be innovative. This is where IBM can help; by connecting our Business Partners to our developers and technical experts, we can combine our joint technical strengths to innovate.

IBM has invested nearly $600 million over the last decade to bring the resources and capabilities needed to innovate to companies across the globe. Through our network of IBM Innovation Centers, you can:

  • Plug into IBM technology and R&D expertise to build your innovative solutions. By acting as a "sandbox" to develop and test your solutions, the centers help you reduce costs and speed the development cycle.
  • Improve your skills around technologies—like SOA, Web 2.0 and IBM POWER6 architecture—through complimentary workshops and technical seminars.
  • Go to market more quickly, or reach new markets, by tapping into IBM sales and marketing expertise.

You can do this all in your backyards; we now have 34 IBM Innovation Centers around the globe. This summer, we opened the latest center in Dublin, Ireland, a city with a solid track record of collaboration between the venture capital community, entrepreneurs, government and academia. But we're not stopping there. This year, we'll grow to 38, adding centers in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Switzerland.

Can't make it to a center? No problem! IBM also offers the Virtual Innovation Center—an online version of the Innovation Center concept that is available 24/7. The VIC offers access to many online classes, Web resources and personal assistance from IBM experts to help keep you productive through your development cycle.

Sam Palmisano said at the Global Leadership Forum, "If the game is about global integration, then the way you win is innovation." We can help. Take a look at this video tour of the IBM Innovation Centers or locate the center closest to you. Start innovating now.

Sincerely,
