Audience
This is an intermediate course for iSeries performance analysts, system administrators, consultants, application developers and IT architects. It is also appropriate for WebSphere Application Server performance analysts from other platforms that are unfamiliar with the iSeries implementation.
Prerequisites
This course requires a good understanding of WebSphere Application Server V6 architecture and administration concepts on iSeries servers (as provided by course - WebSphere Application Server V6.0 Administration for iSeries (AS94)) and familiarity with Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application technologies (Servlets, JavaServer Pages, Enterprise JavaBeans, JDBC, Java Message Service, etc.). You are also required to review the modules found in the Performance section of the IBM Application Server V6 and V6.0.1 Education Assistant Web site (http://www-306.ibm.com/software/info/education/assistant/WASv6_Task.shtml) in order to gain a basic understanding of the performance features found in WebSphere Application Server.

Workstation Hardware Requirements:
- Intel Pentium 4 with 2 Ghz processor or more
- 2 GB RAM or more
- 40 GB hard disk space
- Ethernet LAN adapter
- Display adapter with 1024x768 resolution or higher
Workstation Software Requirements:
- Windows XP with Service Pack 1 (Service Pack 2 has not been tested)
- iSeries Access V5R3 with Service Pack SI17742 or later
- MS Internet Explorer Version 6
- Rational Performance Tester 6.1 or later
- WDSc Advanced Edition for iSeries, Version 6 with the latest fix pack
- IBM Remote Agent Controller Version 6
- IBM Personal Communications 5.6 or later
- Log file viewer such as Textpad or Editpad
iSeries Hardware Requirements (for a maximum of 8 student teams)
- iSeries 520 FC 7457 or larger (must have Enterprise Edition for 5250 emulation)
- 16 GB or more main storage
- 100 GB or more, 12 or more disk arms
- 100 mbs or higher Ethernet communications adapter
Note: It is highly recommended that Power5 based hardware be used for this course. Each additional student team will require 500 CPW of processor resource and 1.5 GB of main storage.

- WebSphere Application Server Version 6, 5733-W60 (*BASE and option 1 or 2)
- Group PTF SF99301 version 3 or later
- HTTP Server (5722-DG1)
- JDK 1.4 (5722-JV1 option 6)
- iSeries Performance Tools (5722-PT1) and latest Group PTF (SF99139)
- other required OS/400 components (refer to WebSphere V6 for iSeries Information Center)
Adequate power and network capacity to support the workstations and iSeries server
