Gene Phifer, Managing Vice President, Gartner Research
Keynote: "The Portal of the Future: Your Key to a Great User Experience"
Enterprise portals have been deployed in many organizations for more than 10 years. However, these powerful user experience tools are aging gracefully. Portals have become a dominant user interaction model, delivering measurable ROI year after year. But after a period of relative stability, the technologies to deliver portals are now evolving rapidly: Web 2.0 social software, RESTful models of content consumption, rich Internet applications and advanced mobile capabilities are starting to appear in today’s portal frameworks, and will drive the enterprise portals of the future.

Gene Phifer's Bio:
Gene Phifer is a managing vice president in Gartner Research. Mr. Phifer covers a broad set of Web and cloud-centric technologies, including Web architecture, intranets, extranets, e-business, portals, rich Internet applications, Web applications, cloud computing and software as a service. Additional concepts covered include SOA, WOA, governance and management of infrastructure resources.
Gene is a 35-year IT veteran. Prior to joining Gartner, he held various management and executive roles in Fortune 100 IT departments, most notably Frito-Lay and Texas Instruments. There he managed all aspects of IT, including infrastructure technologies, data centers and line-of-business applications. Additionally, Mr. Phifer held the dual roles of CIO and CTO for Melson Technologies.
Gene holds an MBA, specializing in MIS from the University of Dallas and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Mississippi.

Larry Bowden's Bio:
Larry Bowden has over two decades experience in IBM helping customers exploit the opportunities provided by information technologies. He currently is Vice President, Portals and Mashups where he is responsible for the development and delivery of web based products and solutions to help customers create differentiated web experiences for their customers, partners, employees or citizens.
Prior to this, he was Vice President Portal Solutions and Lotus Products for IBM's Lotus Software brand and the lead for strategy, marketing, partnerships, industry offerings and services. Under Bowden’s leadership, WebSphere Portal grew to be the highest market share portal solution.
Larry also has extensive experience with IBM's Information Management team in Somers, New York, where he was primarily focused on IBM Content Management, Business Intelligence, Document Management, and Relational database initiatives.
Larry holds Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Denver.
