Role

IBM PureApplication System Implementer is expected to facilitate the integration of patterns, which are optimized applications sets for cloud based or workload optimized deployment.

Assumptions

It is assumed that the individual following this roadmap has basic skills in the following areas:

  • Cloud computing
  • Working knowledge of XML
  • Familiarity with scripting

Objectives

After completing this training, students should be able to:

  • Describe the key characteristics of cloud computing
  • Describe the benefits of using cloud computing
  • Explain the difference between the four cloud service delivery models (PaaS, SaaS, DbaaS, and IaaS)
  • Identify IBM's cloud computing offerings in each cloud layer
  • Describe at a high level the hardware and software components of the PureApplication System loaded on the rack
  • Describe Ethernet hardware and virtual network requirements
  • Describe the steps to configure external networking
  • Discuss the requirement to setup and configure a system
  • Differentiate the capabilities of the Workload console and the System console
  • Administer a cloud group, including IP groups, storage volumes and environment profiles
  • Discuss the three deployment models that are supported by PureApplication System
  • Build,deploy, and manage the following:
    • Web application pattern
    • Database pattern
    • Virtual system pattern
  • Build, deploy, and manage a custom image using IBM's Image Construction and Composition Tool
