Dr. Martin Schmatz
Manager, Systems, IBM Research - Zurich
Dr. Martin Schmatz received the PhD degree in Microwave Electronics from ETH Zurich in 1998. He joined the IBM Zürich Research Laboratory in 1999 where he established and managed the I/O Link Technology project. By mid 2008, Dr. Schmatz took over management responsibilities for the Systems Department at the IBM Zürich Research Lab with a focused research on a wide range of server systems building blocks.
Dr. Schmatz has 50+ published external papers at premier conferences, refereed journals in the field and holds more than 30 patents.
He actively contributed to OIF and JEDEC industry standards. He is a member of the IBM Academy, the IBM Technical Experts Council and has an MBA from the Henley Management College in the UK.
