- DataPower Podcasts
Role
The implementer will implement SOA solutions using the IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances.
The implementer may use these appliances to support the processing of XML, XSD, and XSLT to increase application throughput and decrease latency, implement secure communications between the appliances and other systems, secure XML and Web services transactions, and integrate systems. The implementer will also use effective debugging and troubleshooting techniques.
Assumptions
It is assumed that the individual following this roadmap has basic skills in the following areas:
- Working knowledge of XML, including the development of XSL
- Experience developing or integrating Web services
Objectives
After completing this training, students should be able to:
- Describe the IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliance family and architecture
- Describe the role of the IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances in SOA solutions
- Validate and transform XML documents
- Implement XML threat protection
- Configure SSL on DataPower appliances for transport level security
- Sign and validate messages with digital signatures
- Implement XML encryption and decryption
- Implement Authentication, Authorization and Auditing (AAA)
- Create a Web services proxy to provide service virtualization
- Implement Web services security
- Use the multi-protocol gateway to support message types with different protocols
- Troubleshoot using logs, probes and monitors
1. Foundation technology skills
2. DataPower V5 implementer skills
Role
The implementer will implement SOA solutions using the IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances.
The IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances allow an enterprise to simplify, accelerate, and enhance the security capabilities of its Extensible Markup Language (XML) and web services deployments, and extend the capabilities of its service-oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure.
Through a combination of instructor-led lectures and hands-on lab exercises, students learn how to implement the key use cases for the DataPower appliances. These include XML acceleration and threat protection, web service virtualization, web services security, integrating with IBM WebSphere MQ and Java Message Service (JMS), and authentication, authorization, and auditing (AAA). Students also learn how to use various problem determination tools such as logs, monitors, and probes, as well as techniques for testing DataPower services and handling errors.
Hands-on exercises give students experience working directly with an IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliance. The exercises focus on skills such as creating XML firewalls, working with encryption and cryptographic objects, configuring service level monitoring, troubleshooting services, and handling errors.
3. DataPower V4 implementer skills
Role
The implementer will implement SOA solutions using the IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances. This includes the WebSphere DataPower XML Accelerator XA35, the WebSphere DataPower XML Security Gateway XS40, the WebSphere DataPower Integration Appliance XI50, the WebSphere DataPower Integration Blade XI50B, the WebSphere DataPower B2B Appliance XB60, and the WebSphere DataPower Low Latency Appliance XM70.
DataPower V4 also supports the new devices: WebSphere DataPower Integration Appliance XI52, WebSphere DataPower B2B Appliance XB62, WebSphere DataPower XML Accelerator XA35, WebSphere DataPower XML Security Gateway XS40, WebSphere DataPower Integration Appliance XI50, WebSphere DataPower Integration Appliance XI52, WebSphere DataPower Integration Blade XI50B, WebSphere DataPower B2B Appliance XB60, WebSphere DataPower B2B Appliance XB62, and WebSphere DataPower Low Latency Appliance XM70.
