Role
The System Administrator is an individual who is expected to perform the installation, configuration and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a WebSphere Message Broker runtime environment. This includes product installation and local configuration as well as the setup of a Message Broker Domain. A System Administrator is also expected to identify performance bottlenecks and provide administrative solutions where appropriate.

Assumptions
It is assumed that the individual following this roadmap has basic skills in the following areas:

  • Working knowledge of underlying operating system platforms
  • Understanding of basic Internet concepts
  • Knowledge of WebSphere MQ concepts and functions

Objectives
After completing this training, students should be able to:

  • Describe the core product family and architecture
  • Install and configure WebSphere Message Broker on a Windows or z/OS platform
  • Establish, maintain and manage a broker domain
  • Perform basic administration tasks in the management of a broker domain
  • Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Migrate from an existing WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker V6 environment
