Role
The System Administrator is responsible for performing all operational processes and procedures, ensuring that all IT services and infrastructure meet operational targets and that all configuration items are appropriately recorded.
Assumptions
It is assumed that the individual following this roadmap has basic skills in the following areas:
- Working knowledge of underlying operating system platforms
- A solid understanding of data formats and processing logic
- A proficiency in using Microsoft Windows is recommended
- DX636 - Fundamentals of Data Transformation (DS TX)
- Minimum of 3 months of mapping and type tree design experience
Objectives
After completing this training, students should be able to:
- Monitor, manage, and troubleshoot systems running with the IBM DataStage TX Event Server in a production environment.
- Successfully utilize the IBM DataStage TX Event Server Management Tools, log files, and utility commands to deploy, administer, manage, monitor, and configure the Event Server execution engine on Windows and UNIX platforms. Complete hands-on exercises deploying and managing Launcher systems in both Windows and UNIX operating system environments.
- Explain and implement type tree design techniques to improve throughput and simplify mapping
- Identify best practices for mapping rules
- Use advanced functions in mapping rules to solve complex transformation problems
- Use router maps to select and run a map based on data content and variable processing requirements
- Use Internet and utility adapters to package, retrieve and route data
- Identify modifications that can be made to type trees and maps to optimize performance
- Create custom reports from the map audit log
