Role
The application developer is responsible for developing business services according to the architect's model. The application developer uses IBM Rational Application Developer to develop, test and debug application components using the J2EE component model, and exposes the application logic as a reusable service. The application developer also assists the integration developer in implementing complex business processes, using Business Process Choreographer, that consume Web services in IBM WebSphere Integration Developer.

Assumptions
It is assumed that the individual following this roadmap has basic skills in the following areas:

  • Working knowledge of underlying operating system platforms
  • Understanding of basic Internet concepts
  • Experience with Java programming

Objectives
After completing this training, students should be able to:

  • Describe the J2EE components and APIs used in J2EE applications
  • Use patterns and best practices to develop robust, secure and efficient applications
  • Use IBM Rational Application Developer to develop, test, debug and deploy J2EE applications
  • Create web-based interfaces to integrate human interaction in WS-BPEL processes
