Role
The application developer is responsible for developing the functional aspects of the business applications as designed by the solution architect as well as creating solution prototypes that can be used to validate ideas and business needs. The application developer is expected to be able to implement design elements, make specific implementation decisions, develop installation artifacts, implement test elements, execute unit tests, analyze runtime behavior and adjust malfunctioning elements, and orchestrate the creation of solution prototypes and test them against corporate business needs.
Assumptions
It is assumed that the individual following this roadmap has basic skills in the following areas:
- Working knowledge of the underlying operating system platforms
- Working knowledge of Internet technologies
- Basic knowledge of application design and programming
- Ability to code COBOL or PL/I statements
- Application development experience
Objectives
After completing this training, students should be able to:
- Create CICS transaction prototypes and test them
- Create customized components as necessary to support business objectives
- Design and develop CICS transactions
- Utilize knowledge of best practices
